 About Cancer

Cancer is a cellular disease characterized by uncontrolled growth of cells. Our body contains thirty trillion cells. These cells reproduce and function in an orderly manner. Whenever they face assault by environmental factors, some of them go out of control, develop a “mind of their own”, and turn cancerous. There are two types of cancers. Benign tumors and malignant tumors. Both are the result of uncontrolled cell growth. However, benign cancers are localized while the malignant ones migrate, spread and grow in several places.

Twenty percent of global cancer patients are in India. In developed countries the rate of incidence of cancer is declining while in the developing nations like India it is on the increase. In addition to genetic predisposition, environmental factors like smoking and chewing tobacco and life style which ignore natural foods and adherence to synthetics are largely responsible for the high cancer incidence.
